In the last 10 years, everything has changed. I was a new freshman in college on 9-11-01. I was a music major. I was single. I hadn't even met Marty yet. And now look at me. I'm married, I'm a 4th grade teacher, and I have a two-year-old son who will never know what life was like before the tragedy of that day.
As I tried to "teach" my students about 9-11 on Friday, I realized how simple their lives are. How innocent. They couldn't understand how people would do things like fly airplanes into building on purpose, or why people could be so desperate that they felt the need to jump from windows, knowing that they would die.
When I got home, and watched Noah play, I saw how innocent his life is. He eats, he sleeps, he plays, and all of his needs are taken care of. I wish he could keep the innocence forever. I hope and pray that he will live a life without the grief and heartbreak so many people experiences on that day. I want him to be happy always. I want him to trust not only in Marty and I, but in God. I know that God has an awesome plan for his life.
My heart goes out to all those whose hearts were broken that day. It especially goes out to the children. Those who lost parents. Those who lost aunts, uncles and grandparents. Those who never even got to meet their fathers, because they hadn't been born yet. Those children lost their innocence way too early.
